HOTEL EL GECKO

HOTEL EL GECKOHotel El Gecko, in the sleepy village of Cortes de la Frontera, has re-opened and is ready to welcome old and new friends. Originally it was an inn, where the bar was upstairs, underneath which they housed the animals. Some of the locals still remember tales of their grandparents riding up, leaving their horses below and drinking in the bar upstairs. The hotel has been totally reformed combining ‘rustic charm with contemporary comfort’, providing a friendly and informal atmosphere. Hotel El Gecko is on the banks of the River Guadiaro and is surrounded by the Alcornocales Cork Forest and the Grazalema National Park. It’s the perfect setting for taking riverside, mountain and forest walks, going bird-watching, horse-riding and visiting Neolithic caves. There are five lovely rooms, a swimming pool and sun terraces, a restaurant and bar. There are also delightful shady places to relax in by the riverside with only the fish, turtles and birds for company. Heaven! At present, they have a very special opening offer for the Summer, 2 nights for only 50 euros per night. With the gorgeous setting, wonderful facilities and friendly atmosphere, it’s a bargain.  Hotel El Gecko is a brilliant location for exploring Andalucia. It’s only 50 metres from the picturesque train station, from where you can easily travel to historic Ronda, Granada or to the coast. You can even jump on the train to eat in a restaurant in the next village! Why not take a trip through the hills visiting the White villages or spend your days painting the fantastic scenery, and, of course, you can laze by the pool, relaxing and enjoying everything this riverside hotel offers.  Non-residents are welcome to visit for the day, eat in the restaurant, take a dip in the pool or a shady walk.  However, it would make a perfect weekend away in one of the most beautiful areas in Andalucia. Visitors and guests will find lots of information about the area and the available activities. If you visit during the fiesta season you can enjoy local hospitality and learn about traditional folk lore. Visit the website, www.hotelelgecko.com or call Sara on 952153386 to arrange one of the best breaks of this Summer.
